Wholly fabricated inside our own metal shop, NEPSI’s metal enclosures are extremely durable and resistant to corrosion, dust, solar radiation, snow, and rain resistant. Customers can choose from many different configurations with some or all protection, control, switching, disconnecting, and grounding functions, depending on your needs. NEPSI Harmonic Filters can vary in voltage level (2.4kV through 38kV), reactive power (0.5 MVAR through 100 MVAR), BIL rating (60kV BIL through 200kV BIL), filter type (C-High Pass, High-Pass, Notch, Tuned, De-Tuned, multi-tuned), number of stages, and several other characteristics required for your specific application. With a global install base and decades of experience, NEPSI’s equipment has a proven track record across industrial, commercial, and utility power systems and in all environments. Regardless of altitude, climate, temperature, or location – you can expect nothing but quality performance. For additional peace of mind, the Harmonic Filters can be certified to meet site-specific seismic, wind, or snow load conditions.
NEPSI Harmonic Filters come equipped with Iron-Core harmonic filter reactors (single-phase or three-phase) to tune the capacitor bank to the desired frequency and reduce the frequency and magnitude of inrush currents from back-to-back switching. By dampening the unwanted harmonic resonances present within your specific application, we can reduce harmonic voltage & current distortion, improve voltage profile, and provide operational efficiencies in your critical processes – all while reducing power factor penalties. As required, NEPSI will also equip our C-High Pass, High Pass, and Double-Tuned Harmonic Filters with High-Pass Filter Resistors. This upgrade provides harmonic resonant damping and high pass filtering for medium voltage filter systems. The resistor rating depends on filter bank damping factor requirements and expected harmonics. As with all NEPSI products, the Harmonic Filters provide an all-inclusive, metal-enclosed solution which ships fully assembled and ready for interconnection.
NEPSI Medium Voltage Metal-Enclosed Harmonic Filter Banks bring top-tier harmonic filtering to many industries like mining, chemical, petroleum, commercial, general industrial, wind and solar. As a testament to their unmatched abilities, NEPSI’s Harmonic Filters have supplied reliable reactive power and harmonic filtering to Red Chris Mine, a remote copper/gold mine in northwest British Columbia. Red Chris Mine sits at an elevation of 1,500 meters, with chilling temperatures ranging from -50°C (-58°F) to 30°C (86°F). This site is home to a 30,000-tonne-per-day mill, which includes two 9,000 HP variable frequency drives. Like all available systems, this was an all-inclusive design that met all protection, control, switching, disconnecting, and interlocking requirements. They chose our metal-enclosed system instead of an open-rack filter system due to the remoteness of the mine and its harsh arctic environment. Even in these challenging conditions, NEPSI’s filter system supplied reliable reactive power and harmonic filtering, giving Red Chris the potential to become a world class, long life mine.
